Fox Lady Foxes vs Velma - Districts

The Fox Lady Foxes' (10-13) season ended tonight as they fell to the Velma-Alma Lady Comets in the opening round of District Tournament action, 56-48. In defeat, the Lady Foxes were lead in scoring by Keyanndra Young with 27 and Patten Shepherd with 10 points.
It was a bitter sweet end to our season. We've had a lot of ups and downs, but I am proud of the fact these young women faced a lot of adversity early on and fought through it to become a better team. In my years of coaching, this is the hardest working team I've had. The four Seniors we are losing did a great job of re-establishing the tradition of Lady Foxes basketball here and it is something we will take and continue to improve upon. We don't like the fact that we lost. You don't build programs on "moral" victories and improvement, but in each season I've had these girls, we have improved. Now, after a little time off, we get back to work on the 2012-2013 season.

Basketball Districts Tonight!

Tonight, the Fox Lady Foxes and Fox Foxes start their respective marches toward the Gold Ball. The Lady Foxes will open up District competition at Turner against the Velma-Alma Lady Comets starting at 6:30pm. Coach Spigner said, "It's a tough opener for us, but the girls are prepared and they know what is on the line."

The Fox Foxes look to keep their winning streak alive as they play the Turner Falcons. Coach Yeiser said, "We've played these guys before and handled them pretty easy, but it's always harder to beat a team the second time around."

Good luck to the Fox Hoopsters tonight!
