Pre-K! Full Day!
By Kaylee Schier and Desmond James
The State of the Elementary
The elementary is adjusting well to the changes to the new school year and have not been effected by the changes to the high school schedule. "This year is going great so far, the teachers and the kids are working hard and happy to see me." Elementary Principal Mr. Williams jokingly says. "I don't like the short lunch period but I like the fact that we will get out earlier this year, and have a longer summer so I guess I'll just have to deal with extra class period and shorter lunch," said one elementary student. Starting last year, the 7th grade moved down to the upper elementary building instead of the high school building and the 4th grade moved down to the lower elementary building. New this year is the 3 year old program and Pre-K is going full day. So far, so good for the new school year at Fox Elementary.

FCCLA
If you really want to learn something about family and community, you would really like FCCLA. FCCLA are planning to do a lot of things this year. Right now they are planning to have a Welcome Back to School party. They will have all kinds of different games like, Uno, X-Box, Wii, Skip Bo, Phase 10, Chicken Foot, Dominoes, Applestapples, Scattagories, Monopoly, Life and much much more. It will be on September 21st at 6:00 p.m. They will also have door prizes and snacks.
Right now FCCLA is designing t-shirts and FCCLA president Kaylee Schier is excited about it, "they are awesome!" The FCCLA will be going to Marietta on October 12th for the district meeting with other 17 schools. November 9th they will be having a blood drive and they will also be raising money for March of Dimes.
If you want to be a member of FCCLA you have to be in a FCCLA class, or have been a member in the past. You can also get in touch with Ms. Crawshaw at the school.
Ms. Crawshaw thinks it is very important to have FCCLA because, FCCLA is the only organization that deals with community and family. They do it because, it gives them a chance to work with people. It is something different for the students.
The officers this year for FCCLA are: Kaylee Schier-President, Brianna Lovely-Vice President, Danielle Morris, Secretary, Dalton Langley-Treasurer, Desmond James-Student Council Representative, Lydia Turner-Reporter, and Jessica Stewart-Historian.

And also, Mr. Kirkpatrick was presented an award for Ag Mentor Teacher of the Year of Oklahoma and the western region of the U.S. This award for presented to him by the National AG Teacher Association. The band is working and getting better each day. The new band teacher has a lot of new ideas and plans for the band this year, like going to marching contest, honor band, and after January they are going to do workshops, concert contest, and solo and ensembles.
There are 25-30 students in band this year and they are very excited about the Christmas Parade this year because they are going to wear Christmas lights and uniforms. Mr. Stringer wants to update the band status by having a show band and updating instrumentals.
They plan to march at every game and at least one away game. They practice marching during band first hour, on Thursday mornings at 7a.m, and if needed after school. Mr. Stringer said, "We plan on marching at the state fair on Monday, Tishamingo band and field competitions, SWOSU homecoming and game, and the Christmas parade in Ardmore." Senior bandsman Shanda Fore says, "The band has improved and he (Mr. Stringer) has brought out self-confidence and shown us how them how to achieve goals by working at them."

New Teacher Profile - Mrs. Wendy Plant
by Anissa McConnell and Jessica Schmidt
Fox High School has a new face this year, Mrs. Wendy Plant. She is from Foster, OK and graduated high school from Waurika. She teaches 7th through 12th grade special education. Mrs. Plant was hired at the end of last year and wanted the job so she could be near her husband, our 5th grade teacher at Fox, Mr. Plant. She thinks this job is a very high maintenance job and it will take a lot of work, but Mrs. Plant is looking forward to the challenge. Welcome to Fox, Mrs. Plant!
